The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT MINNA) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to students’ welfare, academic excellence, and character development as it formally admitted 7,099 new students during its 37th Matriculation Ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session.
Speaking at the event held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Suleiman Kumo Convocation Square, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Farouk Adamu Kuta, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Engr. Prof. Abdullahi Muhammed, emphasized the university’s dedication to creating a supportive and healthy learning environment.
Prof. Muhammed cautioned the newly admitted students against self-medication and urged them to make effective use of the University Health Services (UHS). He also encouraged active participation in sports and extracurricular activities, highlighting their benefits for physical and mental health, leadership development, and teamwork.
Reaffirming FUT, Minna's position as a hub for innovation and technology-driven education, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the university is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including libraries, laboratories, workshops, and digital platforms, all tailored to enrich the students’ academic journey.
He charged the students to uphold high moral standards and comply with university regulations, including adherence to the dress code and the use of student ID cards on campus. He warned against misconduct such as cultism, examination malpractice, and drug abuse, all of which are addressed in the student handbook.
“Integrity and discipline are not just requirements for your academic success here, but essential tools for life beyond the University,” Prof. Kuta said.
On security, he called for vigilance and urged students to promptly report any suspicious behavior or object to the Security Services Unit, stressing that maintaining safety on campus is a collective responsibility.
The Vice-Chancellor revealed that the University received 11,109 applications through the 2024/2025 Direct Entry and Post-UTME admissions process. Out of the 7,750 admission offers made, 7,099 students completed their registration and took part in the matriculation.
The Registrar, Mall. Danladi Mallam, administered the matriculation oath to the newly admitted students.
