The Borno State University (BOSU) has held its sixth matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The grand ceremony took place at the University Mini Sport Complex where the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babagana Gutti, ably assisted by the Registrar, Mrs. Jallaba M. Sheikh supervised the administering of matriculation oath to Three Thousand, Nine Hundred and Forty-Four (3944), newly admitted students.
In his matriculation address, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babagana Gutti, urged the matriculants to imbibe reading and learning culture, discipline and stride to excellence which the oath represents.
Prof. Gutti said, ‘by this oath you are ambassadors of the University and therefore great deal of seriousness, hard work, loyalty and discipline are expected from you all. ‘He therefor advised them to strictly observe the rules and regulations of the university, avoid substance and drug abuse, adhere to the university’s dress code as well as avoid exam malpractice, as deviation from these moral ethical values, will not be tolerated.
He disclosed that many students across the nation applied and total number of students admitted stands at 3944, adding that, the university’s gender policy is one of the best in the country in terms of admission, with both genders spread evenly in all courses been offered. He also said admissions in BOSU cut across all the 27 Local Government Council of Borno State and States of the Federations.
Prof. Gutti, on behalf of the university’s Council, Senate, Management, Staff, and Students appreciates the Visitor and Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, whose commitment to the ideals and objectives of the university is exalted.
He equally appreciates the Ministries of Education, Sciences, Technology and Innovation and that of Finance as well as Deans, Directors, Heads of Department, Staff on sabbatical and visiting and all supporting staff for their untiring support which propelled the university to its present state.
Highlight of the ceremony was the administering of matriculation oath on the new students by the University Registrar, Mrs. Jallaba M. Sheikh, who equally admonished the Matriculating Students to be good ambassadors of the University.
Dignitaries at the event include the VC University of Maiduguri, Prof. Muh'd Laminu Mele, Representative of Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Education, Sciences, Technology and Innovation Hajiya Yagana Kyari, Registrar Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri Malam Bulama Makinta, District Head of Auno Aja Abba Anas, Director/CEO Nigeria Arabic Village Ngala Prof. Ibrahim Muhammad and Representative of JAMB, among many others.
