The Dean of Student Affairs, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), Dr. Musa Salihu Ewugi, has called for calm following the recent suspension of key Students' Union Government (SUG) officials, including President Muhammad Muhammad Ganako, the Financial Secretary, and the Treasurer.

Speaking during a meeting with Lapai TV and university security officials, Dr. Ewugi addressed concerns regarding the suspension letter issued by the Students’ Representative Assembly (SRA). He clarified that his office had not received any official communication regarding the suspension, contrary to reports circulating within the university community. He assured students that an independent investigation would be launched to determine the credibility of the financial mismanagement allegations against the suspended SUG officials.

Dr. Ewugi further emphasized the need to maintain peace and order on campus, warning students against any actions that could disrupt academic activities or damage the university’s reputation. He urged students to remain patient while the university administration ensures a fair and transparent resolution to the matter.

The Students’ Representative Assembly (SRA) had earlier announced the suspension of the SUG leadership on March 8, 2025, citing irregularities in financial management and failure to honor official summons. In the meantime, the Vice President of the Union has been instructed to assume presidential duties pending the outcome of investigations by the Finance and Disciplinary Committees.
