The Centre for Distance Learning (CDL), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has formally inducted newly admitted students into its various diploma programmes in a grand matriculation ceremony. The event, which marked the beginning of their academic journey, was graced by principal officers of the University. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Yomi Daramola, while the Registrar, Mr. Tunji Bakare, administered the matriculation oath.
Delivering the Vice-Chancellor’s address, Professor Daramola congratulated the matriculating students on securing a place at OAU, describing their admission as a testament to their academic potential and determination. He emphasized that the Centre for Distance Learning remains a model of flexible yet rigorous education, equipping students with the skills and knowledge required to thrive in their chosen fields. He urged them to be diligent, disciplined, and innovative, assuring them that the University has provided a conducive environment, world-class faculty, and modern learning resources to aid their academic success.
The Vice-Chancellor further charged the new students to uphold the institution’s legacy of academic excellence, integrity, and service to humanity.
