The Governing Council of Yobe State University, Damaturu, has approved the appointment of Prof. Bukar Jamri as the acting Vice Chancellor of the institution.
The university’s Director of Information, Hajiya Uwani-Mamuda, said in a statement in Damaturu on Wednesday that the appointment would take effect from February 13.
According to her, Jamri’s appointment followed the expiration of the tenure of Prof. Mala Daura, the incumbent VC of the university.
She said the council also approved the appointment of Malam Garba Girgir, as the acting Registrar of the institution, with effect from January 15.
The director said that the two appointments were approved at an extraordinary meeting of the council on Wednesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that until his appointment, Jamri was the Deputy VC, Administration, of the institution.
