As part of the ongoing National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Exercise, Newgate University Minna welcomed another team of accreditors to evaluate its degree programs in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering.
The accreditation team comprised of Prof. Aminu Mohammed from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, as the Team Lead, Prof. Philip Achimugu from the Airforce Institute of Technology, Kaduna, and Mallam Ahmed Nakaka, representing the NUC.
In his remarks, Prof. Aminu Mohammed expressed gratitude to the university for its hospitality, transparency, & readiness for the review process. He described accreditation as an essential peer-review mechanism, indispensable in ensuring the global relevance of the Nigerian university system.
Welcoming the team, the VC, commended the NUC's commitment to upholding quality education in Nigerian universities. He assured the delegation of the university's dedication to excellence and encouraged them to provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
During the exercise, the team assessed the university’s facilities, including the hi-tech laboratory, hardware lab, software lab, cybersecurity lab, and forensic imager (Tableau). They also reviewed relevant files and engaged with both academic and administrative staff members.
