The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that polytechnic graduates or Higher National Diploma (HND) holders without evidence of completing the mandatory 12-month industrial training will not be registered at the NYSC orientation camp to participate in the national youth service.
Mrs. Caroline Lembu, Acting Director of Press and Public Relations at NYSC, made this announcement on Thursday, emphasizing that a certificate of industrial training is a requirement for polytechnic graduates to participate in the one-year national youth service.
The NYSC recently introduced a new policy requiring polytechnic and monotechnic graduates to present an Industrial Training (IT) certification to participate in the national service, particularly for participation in camp activities.
NYSC Coordinator in Lagos State, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, explained in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on August 3, 2024, that corps members must undergo the one-year IT with evidence of completion before pursuing HND, and institutions must confirm this before admitting them for HND.
Baderinwa stated that the directive would take effect from the next orientation camp, and no candidate who did not complete or undergo the industrial training process would be registered.
