The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has praised Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his significant contributions to the development of education in the state.
The commendation was made by NANS Senate President, Mr Henry Okunomo during the 74th NANS Senate sitting held in Kano.
He noted that Governor Yusuf has implemented numerous developmental programmes, which have had a substantial positive impact on the education sector.
One of the key achievements recognised by NANS is the establishment of multiple foreign scholarship programmes by Governor Yusuf.
These scholarships have enabled numerous students from Kano State to pursue higher education at prestigious institutions abroad.
Mr. Okunomo emphasised that these opportunities not only provide students with a world-class education but also cultural exposure and essential skills that will benefit Nigeria upon their return.
In addition to the foreign scholarships, NANS also commended Governor Yusuf for his investment in educational infrastructure.
Significant efforts have been made to enhance the infrastructure of educational institutions, including the construction of new lecture halls, laboratories, libraries, and student hostels.
Existing facilities have also been refurbished, creating a more conducive learning environment and enhancing the overall educational experience for students in Kano State.
Mr Henry Okunomo further acknowledged the governor’s commitment to research and innovation, noting that it has played a crucial role in securing research grants and funding for academic institutions in Kano State.
These funds have supported groundbreaking research projects, driving advancements across various fields, and contributing to the global body of knowledge.
Governor Yusuf has also prioritised community engagement in the educational process.
By involving local communities, he has created a strong sense of ownership and support for educational initiatives, thereby strengthening the relationship between educational institutions and the communities they serve.
Mr Okunomo concluded by praising Governor Yusuf’s tireless efforts and visionary leadership, which have brought transformative changes to the educational sector in Kano State.
The National Association of Nigerian Students celebrates these remarkable contributions and anticipates even greater achievements in the future.
