A recent report reveals that out of the 15,753 teachers who participated in the November 2023 Professional Qualifying Examination organized by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), a significant number, precisely 3,963 teachers, did not meet the required standards. This examination, designed to assess the professional knowledge of educators, took place across 38 centers nationwide.
Providing insight during an interactive session with journalists on Monday, Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, the Registrar of TRCN, emphasized the council's commitment to enhancing the standards of the teaching profession in Nigeria. The breakdown showed that 10,636 teachers, approximately 72.9%, successfully passed the examination, while others faced challenges such as absence or had results canceled due to examination malpractices. The November diet of the examination occurred from November 23 to November 25, 2023.
